National standard GB/T 21431-2023 "Technical Specifications for Detection of Lightning Protection Devices in Buildings" was officially released

Recently, the National Standardization Administration Committee of the State Administration for Market Regulation issued National Standard Announcement No. 20 of 2023. The announcement includes GB/T 21431-2023 "Technical Specifications for Testing of Lightning Protection Devices in Buildings" revised by the National Technical Committee on Lightning Protection Standardization (referred to as the Lightning Standardization Committee). The standard will be officially implemented on July 1, 2024.

The new standard GB/T21431-2023 mainly includes the following aspects:

   1. Construction requirements for grounding devices: The new standards put forward clear requirements for the construction of grounding devices for building electrical installations, including regulations on the design of grounding devices, material selection, construction technology, acceptance standards, etc. These requirements are intended to ensure the quality of installation of grounding devices and improve their safety and reliability.

2 Measurement of ground resistance: The new standard stipulates the measurement method of ground resistance, requiring the use of correct measurement methods and equipment to ensure the accuracy and reliability of measurement results. At the same time, the new standard also stipulates the value of grounding resistance, requiring it to comply with relevant standards and specifications.

3 Maintenance and testing of grounding devices: The new standards require that the grounding devices of building electrical installations must be regularly maintained and tested during use, and existing safety hazards must be discovered and dealt with in a timely manner to ensure their safety and reliability. At the same time, the new standard also stipulates the replacement conditions and replacement requirements for grounding devices to ensure that they are always in good working condition.

   4. Detection and maintenance of surge protectors: The detection requirements for surge protectors are more comprehensive and strict, requiring regular inspection and maintenance, timely discovery and treatment of existing safety hazards, and ensuring that they are always in good working condition. It aims to improve its safety performance and reliability and provide more reliable protection for electrical equipment and personal safety.
